STATEMENT OF SAFTEY POLICY

 

Afar Community Association in UK (ACA) recognises and accepts responsibility as an employer for providing a safe and healthy workplace and good working environment for all its employees. Our policy is based on the philosophy that accidents and ill health are preventable and that the way to build this is to our organisation is to review and monitor health and safety; assess all risks as a routine management procedure and to discharge its duties through:

 

 

THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE & SUB-COMMITTEE

 

ACA will take all the steps within its power, insofar as is reasonably practicable, to meet this responsibility, paying practical attention to the provision and maintenance of:
 

• Equipment and systems of work which are safe;

• Safe arrangements for the service user, volunteers, staff, management committee;

• Sufficient information, instruction, training and supervision to enable all employees, and volunteers to avoid hazards and contribute positively to their own health and safety whilst at work;

• Providing a safe place of work and an adequate access;

 

 

A HEALTH WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROVIDING ADEQUATE WELFARE FACILITIES

 

Without detracting from the primary responsibility of mangers or directors and supervisors for ensuring safe conditions in the place of work, ACA will provide advice and general support on health and safety matters where this is necessary to assist line management in its task. No safety policy is likely to be successful unless it actively involves working people themselves.

 

ACA will therefore co-operate fully in the appointment of safety representative, recognised trade unions and will provide them, where necessary, with sufficient facilities and training to carry out this task.

 

This policy was re-viewed and approved by the Management Committee of the Afar Community Association in UK at its meeting held on Saturday, 30th May 2015, at the Afar Community Centre (Registered Office) located in Tower Hamlets, Whitechapel, London, E1 1HL.
